This talk shared my journey from research to applied data science, highlighting how data engineering supports both public health and One Health initiatives. I discussed projects ranging from my contributions to the Global Burden of Animal Diseases initiative to developing automated data systems at Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, and provided reflections on lessons learned about collaboration, balance, and communication along the way.
